AdBlue Delete

What drivers should understand before making SCR or AdBlue changes.

AdBlue and SCR systems are emissions systems. Disabling them may create legal, MOT, warranty, finance, insurance and resale issues. This guide is not legal advice, but it is a reminder to understand the consequences before booking any work.

Why AdBlue faults happen

Common causes include crystallised AdBlue, blocked injectors, failed pumps, tank heater faults, NOx sensor faults, wiring issues, software counters and poor previous repairs. The right fix depends on proper diagnosis.

Questions to ask first

Ask whether the system has been diagnosed properly, whether the fault can be repaired, whether original software will be saved, what happens at MOT, and whether the vehicle will remain suitable for its intended road use.

Risks after a poor delete

Poor work can leave warning lights, countdown messages, limp mode, fault codes, failed inspections, odd exhaust behaviour, poor resale value, and trouble when later software updates are applied.

If something has gone wrong

Keep the invoice, messages, fault scans and mileage records. Ask for a written explanation of what was changed, then get an independent report if the business cannot or will not resolve the problem.
