Today we had in this beautiful sepang blue TTS for stage 1 tuning on the dyno 🚀
This one has a backstory: it had some work done at another company including induction kit, intercooler, downpipe, exhaust system and their stage 2 with two hills on a piece of paper with some numbers on it
A month later customer is at ours getting the vehicle retuned because it didn’t feel as quick as quoted figures and had problems like jerking, engine light on.
Upon inspection we found that the coolant hose was rubbing on the intake, radiator cable tied to the aircon, a sports cat the customer asked for non existent on the downpipe 🤨. This wasn’t a good start but onto tuning. The car pulled 366.9bhp and 485.4nm on their tune, a fair amount less than quoted and we have seen tuner x’s maps in the past so are not surprised 😬 looking at data logs we found the vehicle to be running 20% lean throughout the whole run, throttle closures, overall diabolical tune.
We knew that this had more to go compared to a stock vehicle so we applied our base map.
First file made 396bhp and 550nm 😂. Logs were spot on apart from a tiny bit of leaning in the mid range to top (around 7%). With this being stock clutch we adjusted a couple things to produce less torque whilst retaining that nice aggression that comes with properly mapping these.
It’s not all about seeing how much power you can make, it’s all about achieving good power whilst making sure the car stays healthy and runs how it should without running into problems…
Once logs were perfect after around 5 revisions, we ended up on a nice 391.3bhp and 525.0nm 🤌🏼
I took the customer out in it and his first words were “yes it was nothing like this before”
We aren’t the type of company to throw shade or hate on other people’s work but we had to say something about this one 🤦🏼♂️
At least they got rollers from the other tune 🤷🏼♂️
Another customer made happy and already planning on going bigger turbo 😏
