The A-Class used to need a run-up for a hill and a pause before it would go. Both habits have gone. More mid-range, fewer gearchanges, an easier car to place in a gap.

The Galaxy spends its life full of people and bags, and the standard car always felt a size too soft on the hills. There is one in particular, just after the roundabout, where it would change down and then change down again. It walks up there now. On the motorway I am not feeding it throttle to hold seventy with a headwind, and the in-between roads need fewer gearchanges. We checked the fuel over the half-term trips. It is no worse, and the longer days look slightly better. The remap has made a big family car more driveable. That is worth having.
Fiesta ST. The power is there sooner, the hill by the park is one gear, and it has not become a handful in the wet or in traffic. Better to drive, simply.
