This was running 99ron which allowed us to tune this without worries of fuel quality. Huge volume in both power and torque curves especially in the mid range. Logs spot on with 1.45bar and tailed off to give huge mid range without straining the turbo and giving it as much boost as possible till redline. This was a night and day difference on the road with a nice strong pull through the rev range whilst remaining linear and not just lighting the tyres up in lower gears. A little pocket rocket 🚀

A very special project recently arrived at PERON HQ, belonging to our good Scottish customer Jack, who competes in the Super Lap Scotland Time Attack Championship in his Ford Focus RS Mk1! 🏁 This UK-first setup combines a TVS Engineering-supplied DQ250 DSG gearbox with MQB mechatronics, working alongside Syvecs engine management in a car never designed to run a DSG transmission 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘 🔧 When Jack brought the car down to PERON, the gearbox was struggling to operate correctly, either refusing to engage gears or being unable to shift beyond second. Getting a conversion like this working isn't simply a case of plugging in a laptop and uploading software. It requires an understanding of the gearbox, mechatronics, vehicle electronics and communication between the engine and transmission. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 ⚙️ Working closely with TVS Engineering and Jack himself, our PERON engineers tackled the issues step by step: ✅ Verified the gearbox wiring and electrical connections ✅ Reviewed the Syvecs ECU configuration and communication ✅ Worked directly with TVS Engineering to identify calibration issues ✅ Developed and installed revised TVS DSG software ✅ Successfully completed the required gearbox adaptation procedures ✅ Restored gear selection and functional upshifts and downshifts 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧 🚀 From a car that couldn't drive properly to a functioning DSG conversion, selecting gears and shifting as intended! A huge milestone for Jack and his Focus RS, with the next stage being on-track testing and further calibration refinement ahead of the upcoming Super Lap Scotland season. Imagine paying for a remap that promises big gains, only to receive a file that hasn’t been tested on your car. Rescaling the accelerator pedal can make it feel more powerful without actually increasing its maximum power. Worse still, a badly written calibration can put the engine at risk. You don’t even need a rolling road to measure the results. A properly set up road dyno, using a sensor attached to a wheel, can calculate power from the car’s weight, speed and acceleration, with road resistance and test conditions taken into account. So if a mobile tuner isn’t measuring the results, what are their power claims based on? And if a tuning centre owns a rolling road, why aren’t they using it to check your car? Today’s BMW 335d xDrive is a good example. I thought my first calibration would give a good result, but testing showed just 320 HP, up from 300 HP standard. That told us there was more work to do. We reworked the calibration and tested again, finishing at 380 HP and just under 700 Nm. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗛𝗣 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝟯𝟮𝟬 𝗛𝗣 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁: 𝟯𝟴𝟬 𝗛𝗣 / 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟳𝟬𝟬 𝗡𝗺 The ZF 8HP gearbox also received a custom calibration for faster shifts, with increased clutch pressure to help the clutch packs hold the extra torque and reduce the risk of slipping. Anyone can quote a power figure. Testing shows what the car actually delivers, and checking how the engine behaves under load matters just as much as the headline number.
