This 2021 BMW 330e Touring recently visited PERON HQ for our Stage 1 ECU calibration, demonstrating just how much potential lies within BMW's B48 turbocharged petrol engine when combined with electric assistance. Running on 97 RON fuel, with a rear silencer delete and otherwise standard hardware, the results speak for themselves! 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗬𝗡𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗦 📈 Stock: 306 BHP | 346 LB-FT Stage 1: 419 BHP | 496 LB-FT 🚀 GAINS: +113 BHP | +150 LB-FT! These figures represent the combined petrol and electric output, with sufficient battery charge maintained throughout testing. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 ⚙️ With extensive experience calibrating the B48 platform across BMW and MINI applications, our engineers first carried out a bench unlock of the locked Bosch MG1CS201 ECU. A very special project recently arrived at PERON HQ, belonging to our good Scottish customer Jack, who competes in the Super Lap Scotland Time Attack Championship in his Ford Focus RS Mk1! 🏁 This UK-first setup combines a TVS Engineering-supplied DQ250 DSG gearbox with MQB mechatronics, working alongside Syvecs engine management in a car never designed to run a DSG transmission 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘 🔧 When Jack brought the car down to PERON, the gearbox was struggling to operate correctly, either refusing to engage gears or being unable to shift beyond second. Getting a conversion like this working isn't simply a case of plugging in a laptop and uploading software. It requires an understanding of the gearbox, mechatronics, vehicle electronics and communication between the engine and transmission. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 ⚙️ Working closely with TVS Engineering and Jack himself, our PERON engineers tackled the issues step by step: ✅ Verified the gearbox wiring and electrical connections ✅ Reviewed the Syvecs ECU configuration and communication ✅ Worked directly with TVS Engineering to identify calibration issues ✅ Developed and installed revised TVS DSG software ✅ Successfully completed the required gearbox adaptation procedures ✅ Restored gear selection and functional upshifts and downshifts 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧 🚀 From a car that couldn't drive properly to a functioning DSG conversion, selecting gears and shifting as intended! A huge milestone for Jack and his Focus RS, with the next stage being on-track testing and further calibration refinement ahead of the upcoming Super Lap Scotland season. Projects like this demonstrate that TVS Engineering offers far more than conventional DSG remapping.
