Zero to Hero!! Vw Golf R in for Stage 3 ECU + TCU with switchable maps We have been doing extensive research and development recently on simos18 all hours of the day so it’s really nice to see it comes into play! This came in with an L50

0 turbo, intercooler, sports cat, induction kit, cat back system We then fitted an ECOTUNE HPFP alongside ECOTUNE fuel line upgrades. Once fitted, we then got to work with the tuning! this took around 8 revisions to perfect, finding the best boost strategy the car worked with. With this still having standard LPFP we couldn’t go crazy as they tend to go weak when going more power than this, fuel pressure on this bang on no loss of pressure, nice and stable 👌🏻 Switchable maps applied with a dedicated map for the extra goodies like rolling launch and a lower rpm launch in map 5 As you can see in the last graph, there are plenty of different power levels so if you’re not feeling like going all out then you don’t have to! (most people tend to stay in the highest map though including myself in my own 😂) Nice and linear power curve with torque holding through the rev range An absolute sleeper 😴

VW Golf R in for health and check and dyno runs This one was initially tuned by us back in 2023 and has been back every 6-12 months to ensure the vehicle is running how it should. Every time this came in, logs were perfect and there wer

e no abnormalities This time was different, he noticed that he would hear a flutter (compressor surge), on initial test drive i could see the sports displays showing stupid amounts of boost pressure for an IS38 which would never have been requested on our tune. Once on the dyno and data logging, this became apparent as logs were showing that it was hitting nearly 2bar all the way till 5000 revs 😅 It did confuse me a bit when it was making over 600nm but i’m not surprised with that amount of boost pressure 😂 We then started adjusting the map to try and compensate for the insane over boost, lowering the requested whilst adjusting the wastegate with this being on 127,000 miles it was more than likely due to the turbo starting to show its age. As seen in the pictures, green is requested boost pressure in the ECU and orange is actual, you want both of them to practically being kissing each other on logs and it definitely was not initially 😂 Adjusting wastegate tables as well as slowly ramping the boost pressure request very carefully prevented this from overboosting. Especially with the owner thrashing the car daily this definitely helped with reliability and preventing any unwanted damage! This just shows that things can change over time and it is always worth having a health check to make sure your vehicle is running as it should be! 1st log picture: how it came in 2nd log picture: overboost fix

BMW 118I for Dyno stage 1 tuning This was running 95RON so it was important to not add any more ignition timing whilst tuning this due to fuel quality. These always tune well being so detuned from factory! Nice and linear power curve

instead of stupid aggression and it dying top end! We have tuned so many of these engines now and they are probably one of the most common ones we do!

BMW 330D This came in for full exhaust system and stage 2 mapping on the dyno! This was already tuned but not to its full potential which was released once tuned by us ;) We made a version which was less aggressive on the smoke maps and

one which was more, he took it out after and said it was missing the aggression that he was wanting, so onto the second version it was and let’s just say it wasn’t disappointing, back end kicking out in third gear and spinning all 1st and 2nd 😂 Then came a problem. The most unlucky thing happened and it was actually a good thing it happened here, we were testing out the popcorn limiter whilst he was here and the water pump decided it did not want to be in the chat anymore, completely shearing off hitting the radiator, viscous fan, belt snapping and even the bonnet being hit in the chaos with plastic flying everywhere🤦🏼‍♂️ (what are odds of that). Car then had to be left with us and was fixed ASAP so he could actually enjoy the power 😭. This is a case of bad luck but at least it happened here instead of a situation like his diff blowing up the week before on a dual carriageway 😂😂

Hyundai Coupe for stage 2 tuning! We initially put it on the dyno but turns out the car was too low to fit on due to the subframe hitting the rollers 🤦🏼‍♂️ So we decided to road tune it meticulously logging data to get the most of out

of it whilst retaining safety. We had to do this one in BOOT mode which isn’t what you usually want to do but it had to be done 😂 this meant that any adjustments took longer than usual but it’s part of the process! Figures based off data logs: 141bhp -> 163bhp 186nm -> 212nm Throttle response, mid range and top end power now a lot better 💪🏻

BMW 335XD Here we have James' BMW 335 XDrive in for hardware fitting + Stage 2 ECU + TCU on the dyno This had an Uprated Intercooler, brake discs and pads front and rear, gearbox service, engine service. Once all of this was done, onto t

he dyno we went to see what we could get out of it. With this being XDrive we had to use a software called XDelete which allows you to switch to RWD on these models, This allows us to run the vehicle up to see what it is making before and after the tuning session and then switch it back to xDrive without any issues. With this still having DPF in place, it did limit us compared to a Stage 2 that would have a DPF gutted or a downpipe but James wanted the extra power whilst retaining the road legal side of things (I don't blame him lol). We also carried out our Stage 2 TCU which improves the gearbox massively including: Torque limiters raised to allow for more torque to be produced, Gear display, Quicker shifts, Clutch Parameters, Oil Pressure Management and to top it off some nice torque punch on upshifts when giving it some beans! This made some pretty solid figures and a WHOLE bunch of torque which I'm sure will be enough for James!

perfect and was an absolute animal on the road and surprisingly hooked pretty well even in damp conditions and the extra power the graphs may look the smoothest but boy did this feel nice and linear on the road pulling all the way till redline. Once collected one of the first messages from sam was: “it’s ******* rapid” 😂 This was an all rounded good example of an M3 with no issues when it came to tuning and it allowed us to write OBD which is always a success with the ecu being hidden and a ballache to pin out, especially with bad eyes running in the family 🤦🏼‍♂️
