Imagine paying for a remap that promises big gains, only to receive a file that hasn’t been tested on your car. Rescaling the accelerator pedal can make it feel more powerful without actually increasing its maximum power. Worse still, a badly written calibration can put the engine at risk. You don’t even need a rolling road to measure the results. A properly set up road dyno, using a sensor attached to a wheel, can calculate power from the car’s weight, speed and acceleration, with road resistance and test conditions taken into account. So if a mobile tuner isn’t measuring the results, what are their power claims based on? And if a tuning centre owns a rolling road, why aren’t they using it to check your car? Today’s BMW 335d xDrive is a good example. I thought my first calibration would give a good result, but testing showed just 320 HP, up from 300 HP standard. That told us there was more work to do. We reworked the calibration and tested again, finishing at 380 HP and just under 700 Nm. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗛𝗣 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝟯𝟮𝟬 𝗛𝗣 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁: 𝟯𝟴𝟬 𝗛𝗣 / 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟳𝟬𝟬 𝗡𝗺 The ZF 8HP gearbox also received a custom calibration for faster shifts, with increased clutch pressure to help the clutch packs hold the extra torque and reduce the risk of slipping. Anyone can quote a power figure. Testing shows what the car actually delivers, and checking how the engine behaves under load matters just as much as the headline number. This vehicle arrived with a custom map which we proceeed to dynot est it. After inspecting the map, it was frankly impossible to tell what the previous "tuner" was trying to achieve. While the throttle pedal felt aggressive, the rest of the software was completely unoptimised. We completely wiped the slate clean and started afresh. With a proper, safe calibration, we dialed the vehicle in at a strong 369hp exactly where a quality Stage 1 map should be on this engine. We also paired it with a custom gearbox tune to deliver faster, crisper shifts while protecting the transmission. If you’ve paid for a "custom" or "live" remap from a mobile tuner or the car never went on the dyno or at least a road dyno and want to know what your car is actually making (and how safe the map really is), get in touch. A lot of places promise a "custom remap," but how custom can it really be if it was developed on someone else's car? This VW Polo 1.4T visited us at Llandow Tuning for the real deal. We don't deal in generic, off-the-shelf maps with fancy labels. Every calibration we write is developed in-house, tailored specifically to your vehicle, and rigorously tested on our dyno to ensure optimal power delivery and safety. • Stock: 140 HP • Llandow Tuning Custom Stage 1: 180 HP The result? A massive transformation in throttle response, a much wider power band, and a healthy +40hp gain without sacrificing reliability. If you want a map that is actually built for your car, get in touch with the team today! #tuning #vw #vwpolo #customtuning #rollingroad #dyno

Lucky escape for this owner. We had to remove the ECU to do some tuning, only to find substantial corrosion which would have soon resulted in a dead water damaged ECU. #remaps #ecu #wales #tuning #remaps #llandowtuning

This Audi A1 came in with fault codes and the MIL light on. Issues traced to: EGR system Intake flaps DPF related faults All diagnosed and sorted quickly and properly. The job was completed in less than a day, and the customer was able to carry on as normal using one of our courtesy cars. Once everything was working as it should, we went a step further and added a custom Stage 1 calibration. The result Faults gone Smooth running restored And a noticeable boost in performance A bit more power, better response and a car that is actually enjoyable to drive again. This is how it should be done. Fix the problems first Then develop the performance Not the other way around. If your car has warning lights, running issues or just feels a bit flat, bring it in and we will get to the bottom of it. #audi #audia1 #tuning #remap #stage1 #diagnostics #egr #dpf #mil #wales #llandow #customtuning #performance #diesel #dyno

This 2020 BMW 320D came in for a full custom setup, engine and gearbox. Custom dyno Stage 1 engine calibration Custom Stage 1 ZF8 gearbox tune Both developed on the car Both tested properly No off the shelf files No generic gearbox flashes No guesswork This is where the difference really shows. Most places will sell you a file for the engine and a pre-made map for the gearbox. Same file, same settings, regardless of the car. We do it differently. Engine and gearbox are developed together Data logged, tested and refined Everything matched to how the car actually performs The result is a smoother, stronger drive with better response, better gear changes and performance you can actually feel. And here’s the part most people don’t realise… Even with all of that, our custom tuning often works out cheaper than the off the shelf options. £150 off engine tuning Half price gearbox tuning And it all includes dyno time. That means you don’t just get told what it makes… You get a dyno printout to prove it. 𝗡𝗢 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗦 Imagine paying a deposit and being locked in before you’ve even seen how a place works. If you come to Llandow Tuning and decide it’s not for you, no problem, you can just drive away. Try doing that after paying a deposit elsewhere. We test it We log it We prove it If it’s not tested, it’s just a claim #bmw #320d #zf8 #bmwtuning #gearboxtuning #dieseltuning #customtuning #dyno #rollingroad #wales #llandow

This Mini Cooper with the B38 engine came in for a proper custom setup. 130HP standard 192HP after tuning Tested and proven on the dyno No generic file No guesswork No “it should be around this” figures Every change was developed on the car with full data logging throughout. Boost, fueling, airflow and ignition all monitored and refined to make sure the gains are real and safe. That is a huge jump from a small 3 cylinder, but done properly it transforms the car. Stronger pull, better response and a completely different drive. This is what happens when the calibration is actually built for the vehicle, not copied from somewhere else. We test it We log it We prove it If it’s not tested, it’s just a claim #mini #minicooper #b38 #bmwmini #tuning #remap #dyno #rollingroad #performance #wales #llandow #customtuning

This Transit came in underperforming after having DPF and EGR software done elsewhere. Something clearly wasn’t right. We carried out proper diagnostics and datalogging, both on the road and through deeper analysis back in the workshop. The data quickly pointed towards the calibration being the issue. Once we got into the ECU, it confirmed it. Poorly written software, inconsistent changes and areas that simply didn’t make sense. Result Loss of power Poor drivability And a vehicle not performing how it should After working through it and correcting what we could within the calibration, the van was brought back to a much healthier state with performance restored. We may not have uncovered every underlying issue with the vehicle, but we certainly gave it back the power it had lost and a setup that actually works properly. This is exactly why testing and logging matter. Without it, this would have just been another “it feels a bit slow” van with no clear answer. If your vehicle has had work done elsewhere and does not feel right, there is usually a reason. No guesses No generic fixes Just proper diagnostics and real results #ford #transit #diesel #tuning #remap #dpf #egr #diagnostics #wales #llandow
