This Caterham in with us for proper dyno testing. When it comes to knowing what an engine is actually producing, there is no substitute for a rolling road. It is the only way to accurately measure power and torque in a controlled environment without removing the engine. Ideal for benchmarking Ideal for proving power Ideal for finding faults you will never see on the road We use dyno testing alongside live data logging to build a full picture of how the engine is performing. That is how issues get spotted early and setups get refined properly. Over the years we have worked on everything from classic Lotus 7 setups right through to modern Caterhams and just about every variation in between. That includes a huge range of engine setups: Old school Ford Pinto engines on carbs and distributors Ford Crossflow setups Vauxhall XE engines Rover K Series Ford Duratec Ford Sigma Modern Ford EcoBoost conversions Motorcycle engine swaps like Hayabusa builds Carburetors, throttle bodies, standalone ECUs, factory ECUs, distributor ignition, coil on plug, we have seen and tested it all. Each setup requires a different approach, and lightweight cars like these are extremely sensitive to setup and fueling. Small changes make a big difference, which is exactly why proper testing matters. Whether it is a classic carb setup that needs balancing and ignition dialled in, or a modern ECU controlled engine that needs calibration work, the process is the same. Test it, measure it, and prove it. If you want to know what your car is actually doing, not what it “should” be doing, bring it in and we will show you. No guesses No assumptions Just real data #caterham #caterham7 #lotus7 #westfield #mkindy #kitcar #pinto #duratec #ecoboost #hayabusa #tuning #dyno #rollingroad #wales #llandow #performance

This Kuga came in with some very odd running behavior after being “remapped” elsewhere. The customer had taken it to a local dyno tuning centre and was told it had gained less than 10HP. Whether it even made that is unclear, as the vehicle was never actually tested on a dyno despite the customer asking for it. Shortly after, the car started smoking and behaving strangely. Despite trying to get it resolved, the original tuner was unwilling or unable to help. We carried out a free initial assessment. Straight away a few things stood out. The DPF differential pressure sensor had been unplugged and taped up, with no fault codes present. Soot at the tailpipe suggested the DPF was no longer doing anything useful. So the obvious question is… Why was the customer not made aware the DPF had effectively been disabled? Why wasn't the customer told it had already been remapped/modified? Then we looked further...... Oil around the throttle body area Excessive oil present in the intake With the intake pipe removed and the engine revved, oil was being pushed through heavily, exactly what you can see in the photo. At that point it was clear. Turbo seals have failed, allowing the engine to pull oil into the intake. The strange revving behaviour the customer noticed now makes sense, the engine was effectively trying to run on its own oil, with the ECU trying to control it. Which raises another question… Why was no live data taken before tuning to check the health of the turbo? And why was there no proper support offered once the problem started? We could detect all that from a visual inspection, why couldnt the other tuner? Ok maybe they missed it at the time of tuning, but when someone reports an issue why not examine the vehicle and spend all of 5 minutes on it like us to determine the issue. This is not something you fix with a “remap” which the customer had hopped for. This is exactly why proper diagnostics and proper process matter. We did not charge the customer for the initial assessment. We believe in being fair and actually helping people understand what is going on with their vehicle. So to be clear: Yes, we offer a free initial assessment Yes, we do far more than just basic tuning And yes, we support what we do after the work is done If something is wrong, we will help you find out why, not ignore it and hope it goes away. If your car does not feel right after work elsewhere, there is usually a reason. #ford #kuga #diesel #turbo #dpf #egr #diagnostics #tuning #wales #llandow #remapping #cartuning #rhondda #newport #cardiff #swansea #valeofglamorgan

This ST-3 came in for a proper custom calibration and left with a solid, proven gain. 240HP standard 282HP after tuning Tested and confirmed on the dyno No guesses No generic file No “should be about this” figures Every change was data logged, tested and refined on the car itself. That is how you get real, usable power and keep everything within safe limits. Airflow checked Fueling monitored Boost control dialed in Ignition mapped correctly You cannot safely increase power without knowing what the engine is actually doing. That only comes from proper testing and data logging. The result is a car that feels completely different to drive. Stronger through the range, smoother delivery and performance you can actually rely on. We do not flash and hope. We test, develop and prove. Multiple rolling roads Advanced diagnostics and data logging Injector testing petrol and diesel Carbon cleaning and walnut blasting Factory level diagnostic systems See some of the tools we use here https://tuning.wales/home/ourtools If you want real results, not just claimed numbers, come and have a chat. Two decades No reselling No generic files Just real tuning, properly developed #ford #focusst #st3 #ecoboost #tuning #remap #customtuning #dyno #rollingroad #wales #llandow #performance

BMW work is a different level, and it needs the right tools and the right knowledge to do it properly. At Llandow Tuning we are equipped with AutoHex, AVDI and BMW Explorer, giving us deep access to modules, security systems and advanced programming functions that most places simply cannot touch. Alongside that, we run multiple genuine BMW ICOM interfaces with ISTA, including ISTA Online for full factory level programming, updates and diagnostics. We have also kept support for older platforms with our DK Yellow Head setup and DIS, so whether it is early BMW systems or the latest models, we can cover it properly. We can carry out key adaptation and programming CAS and FEM work BCM and module replacement and coding Footwell module repairs and recovery Head unit repairs, upgrades and software updates Apple CarPlay activation and feature enabling Retrofitting options that your car never had from factory Adapting used modules to your vehicle correctly Whether it is a simple coding job or something far more complex, everything is done in house. We also regularly deal with engine conversions and non standard setups. If you have fitted a different engine, even from a different generation, we can help get everything communicating and working as it should. This is not plug and play work. It requires proper understanding of BMW systems, module communication and how to safely integrate changes without creating future problems. Over the years we have built up extensive experience across E, F and G series BMWs, covering everything from diagnostics and repairs to full system integration and custom setups. If you can find another tuning centre in Wales doing this level of BMW work properly in house, we would genuinely like to see it. If you have an issue, want features adding like CarPlay, need a repair, or have a project that needs doing properly, drop us a message or come down for a chat. #bmw #bmwcoding #bmwdiagnostics #bmwretrofit #carplay #bmwkeys #bmwecu #bmwflash #bmwtuning #avdi #autohex #bmwexplorer #icom #ista #coding #programming #wales #llandow

Anyone can claim a map made a certain figure on another car. It means nothing unless it is proven on the vehicle itself. Does that always mean a dyno? Not necessarily. We often combine dyno testing with real world data logging to get the full picture. In this case, that process mattered. If we had not tested and logged this van, it would have left, gone straight into limp mode, and nobody would have known why. Instead, through proper data logging, we identified that the fuel system could not meet the demand of the calibration. After identifying a fueling issue, we tried to work around it. The base calibration had worked well on other vehicles, but clearly this one was different. We tested a number of adjustments, reducing fuel demand, limiting pressure requests and backing things off to safer levels. Even with only moderate performance increases, the vehicle still entered limp mode. At that point it was clear there is a deeper issue within the fueling system that needs to be resolved before any tuning can be completed properly. We declined to bill the customer. Even though time had been spent, we believe in being fair. There is no point charging for a result that cannot be delivered until the underlying problem is fixed. That is the difference between guessing and knowing.
